Trail: Tecumseh. Osceola. East O, Greely Ponds Trail

Date Hiked: 4/29/06

Conditions: First Hundred feet of Tecumseh trail was a muddy mess. Dried out after that. Some ice + snow near the top. I bare booted it but passed a couple coming down who gave up for lack of traction. Down the other side of Tecumseh Crampons required. Very icey, very slippery, I ended up sliding on my butt quite a ways. Hoofed it up Tripoli (which is still closed) and then on to Osceola. Bare booted to the summit but probably could have used some traction. Strapped on the crampons for the short steep section near the Summit. Across the Saddle to East O just scattered snow and ice. Crampons necessary for going up East O and definately down. Very slipperly and scary even with the crampons going down East O. Greely Ponds Trail is fairly dry with the occasional mud puddle.

Special Required Equipment: As Becca said in an earlier report, Crampons, Crampons, Crampons. Especially for East Osceola.

Comments: Found on Trail 2004 YellowTail Wine Bottle, Schiwn Bicycle plastic water bottle, Size 5 women's right foot Asic Sneaker, Blue Nike Sandel. Green "Save Darfur" bracelet. Packed it all out excelt the sandel as it was on the bottom of Greely pond. (7, 8, + 9 down 39 to go!)
