Trail: Webster-Jackson, Edmands Trail, Mt Jackson, Pierce, Eisenhower

Date Hiked: 4/22/06

Conditions: Dry near base, increasing snow after 3200 feet or so. Minimal ice. Trail between Webster-Jackson-Pierce mostly hard pack snow. Lots of deep post holing inches from main path. From Pierce to Ike and down to the trailhead to Edmands is bare rock. Edmands has lots of hard pack snow with minimal post holing and no ice. Two big blow down near the base of Edmands. One at Abenaki bridge requires some scrambling.

Special Required Equipment: Traction aids would help but I found them unnecessary. Definately need wind protection on the top of Pierce and especially Eisenhower.

Comments: Slipperiest part was the steep section going up Pierce after Mizpah Hut. Can be bare booted though. The scariest was Edmands with its hard pack snow and steep cliff. Coldest was the top of Eisenhower. Thank goodness for the carion at the top. Oh, and if your thinking of walking back to your car along Clinton Rd, think again I swear that road is longer on the ground than on the map. (4, 5 and 6 down, 42 more to go!)
