Trail: Blueberry Ledge and Cutoff, Kate Sleeper, Whiteface and East Sleeper

Date Hiked: August 2, 2008

Trail Conditions: Wet. It didn't rain but the high humidity made everything wet. Many of the waterbars had running water in them. Some minor mud in sections. The ledges however, were thankfully dry. No problems on Blueberry Ledge trail. Kate Sleeper varied in levels of maintenance, some areas were nicely brushed back but in others the trail was only six inches wide with a few minor blow downs. Upper sections of Blueberry Cutoff could use some maintenance, especially re-blazing as it is hard to follow in some places.

Special Equipment Required: Air conditioner and someone to carry it. The humidity was killer. Otherwise lots of water.

Comments: Only a few other people on the trail, mostly looking to tag Whiteface. Saw no one heading out to East Sleeper. Everyone seemed to be racing to get down off the ledges before the rains came.

Welcome to the wilderness.

It can't be Blueberry Ledge Trail without the blueberry's. (Vaccinium angustifolium.)

It can't be Blueberry Ledge Trail without the ledges.

Sooo much easier without the snow. Yes, that is a trail blaze at the top.

Amanita flavoconia?

The summit of Mt. Whiteface. The rock pile wasn't there the last time I was here.

The summit of East Sleeper. At least there is a sign on this one, no canister though.

Thanks for the mountain Louis. (Hell of a place to be buried.)
