Trail: Camel Hump via Monroe, Dean, Long and Alpine

Date Hiked: 25NOV06

Conditions: Monroe and Dean are wide and clear. Long Trail South of the Hump near the Alpine Bypass has one tricky blowdown that requires a little scramble. Long Trail North of the Hump has a bit of trail ice, traction would have been nice but not required. Alpine Trail from Long back to Monroe is getting hard to follow could use a reblazing.

Special Required Equipment: Layers. Major temp differance from base to summit.

Comments: Monroe and Dean are probably some of the best engineered and maintained trails I have hiked. Kudos to GMC for the upkeep. Long Trail North and Alpine Trail not so much. Had the summit to myself for a good half hour in the AM, didn't see anyone on the trail until I started my descent around 11am.

You would think a state park would get a bigger sign.

First glimps of the hump from the Dean tent site.

Boreal Chickadee?

Good thing its not winter.

I guess the birds were hungry.
